J.H. Ijams Memorial Scholarship

Joe H. Ijams was born to E.H. Ijams & Una (Hartley) on October 2, 1920 and comes from a strong lineage of humble servants of Christ.

Ijams was a long-serving Elder at Floyd Avenue Church of Christ, Benjestown Church of Christ and Forestview Church of Christ.

By trade, he was a physician in Frayser.  Joe was a soft spoken & wise man of God who exemplified a lifelong love of learning and teaching.

Joe was diagnosed with cancer and passed away on November 22, 1995, just after the completion of the existing Forestview building.

The J.H. Ijams Memorial Scholarship was established and awarded to the first two students in the Fall of 1997  to commemorate the life and legacy of this steward of God’s work.

Scholarships will be awarded to active Forestview Church of Christ young adults who are graduating high school & entering college or returning to college.  All awardees must meet the established eligibility criteria.
